In 2006, Jonathan B. Perlin, MD, PhD, MSHA, FACP, FACMI left VHA to become Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Hospital Corporation of America (HCA). In 2006, under Dr. Perlin’s leadership, HCA introduced hCare, one of the largest and most advanced Electronic Health Records in the country. HCA executive leadership began to establish Electronic Health Record milestones at three-year intervals; the first occurred in 2009, the second in 2013 and the final milestone should be reached in 2015.

In 2009, Marla Weston, Ph.D., RN left VA to become the CEO of the American Nurses Association (ANA) where she placed in motion measures to expand the nursing workforce while leading ANA efforts in health care reform.

takeyouAfter serving as Surgeon General of the Army, Dr. Bernhard Theodore Mittemeyer, MD, retired from the Army in February, 1985, and became the Chief of Urological Surgery at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and is still serving at Lubbock VA Outpatient Clinic.
