In times of peace or times of conflict, the transition back to civilian life can be an unintentionally jarring transition for Veterans. Acclimating to being around their family, friends and rejoining their professional lives can be a process that takes years – or even a lifetime.
Our mental health providers provide a network of support to help with that transition. But to help improve access to these critical services, Department of Veterans Affairs has begun the Care Enough to Share, a volunteer program for mental health providers.
With talented mental health professionals in communities across the country, your skills can help our Veterans move on to the next stage of their life. As we have Veterans with a variety of needs and challenges, we’re looking for:
• Licensed professional mental health counselors
• Marriage and family therapists
• Mental health nurses
• Psychiatrists
• Psychologists
• Social workers
Not only will you be serving our Veterans, but you can also earn continuing education credits and maintain clinical hours for licensure. Email your CV, transcripts and supporting documentation to VAMentalHealthWOC@va.gov and make sure to include your preferred location and the type of work you prefer. The hours you spend with our Veterans will make a lifetime of difference to them and their families.
