Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Carl Gregory Williams.

Carl served in the Army as a supply clerk at Fort Lewis, Washington from 1976-1979. Carl is also a minister, author, electrician and a motivational speaker.

At the age of 12, Carl started a gang in Chicago, where he grew up. By the next year, he was under investigation by the FBI for his gang-related exploits. Carl wrote From Playing to Praying, a book about how he turned his life around after he was acquitted of a crime that could have sentenced him to 40 years in prison. He has spoken about his life and experiences, specifically the dangers of drugs, gangs and violence for the Black Star Project as well as within the Chicago Public School system.

Thank you for your service, Carl.
