Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Makissa Lewis.

Makissa served in the Army as a 92A Automated Logistical Specialist for 11 years.

During that time she deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

She is currently enrolled at Nova Southeastern pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Administration with a specialization in Non-Profit/Non-Governmental Organizations.

Makissa is very involved in her community having worked with Florida International University’s Veteran Upward Bound Grant Writing Committee, the National Association of Student Personnel Administration, the National Black Graduate Student Association, and served as National Education Director for the National Women Veterans of America. She was also recognized by Legacy Magazine as one of their “40 Under 40” Black Leaders of Today and Tomorrow.

“I am always seeking ways to help female Veterans, a population I am proud to be part of,” Makissa said.

Thank you for your service, Makissa!
