Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Air Force Veteran Deidre Jean Wright. Deidre served during the Persian Gulf War and was in the Air Force from 1978 to 1998.

In an interview with the Veteran’s History Project, Deidre discusses enlisting in the Air Force after graduating from college. After completing basic training, she was sent as a maintenance officer to England Air Force Base in Louisiana.

Deidre was deployed to several locations, including Okinawa, Iceland and Spain before she served in logistics and maintenance in the Milstar Program. She was stationed in Los Angeles before being sent to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Deidre was responsible for coordinating and overseeing different aircraft stationed in these areas.

Deidre served for 20 years in the Air Force and received the rank of major for her commitment to the United States. After receiving her Master’s in Library Studies at Florida State University, Deirdre worked as a librarian.

Thank you for your service, Deidre!
