Every day, VA strives to ensure Veterans receive the health care they need, no matter where they are. That’s why we have proposed new initiatives to expand our telehealth services in more than 50 specialties—including intensive care and dermatology—by overriding licensing restrictions and allowing VA providers to treat patients across state lines.
Two of our web-enabled applications are set for a nationwide rollout in the coming year:
• VA Video Connect, which connects Veterans with providers via mobile phone or PC
• Veteran Appointment Request (VAR), which simplifies the scheduling process for Veterans
Utilizing these modern technologies means better, timelier health care for Veterans, particularly those in rural, remote and medically underserved areas. It will also increase the availability of critical mental health and specialty treatment, resulting in improved outcomes overall.
