The National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic is a life-changing experience for Veterans with disabilities, and the registration deadline for the 2012 clinic is fast approaching!

This year, in addition to the stellar Downhill and Cross Country skiing instruction that’s offered, the clinic will be offering an introduction to adaptive kayaking. In addition to kayaking, the Winter Sports Clinic (WSC) offers a wide range of adaptive alternate activities to do throughout the week when you are not speeding down the slopes. We will also be offering a variety of new educational sessions this year, those of you who need Continuing Education Credits can obtain those for these classes. Also, the United States Secret Service will be offering “Introduction to Self Defense” classes during the week, geared toward individuals with disabilities but open for anyone to attend.

Teresa Parks has been the Program Manager for the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic since 2003. She started her career with the Department of Veterans Affairs as a recreation therapist at the Knoxville VA Medical Center in 1993. Her first experience at the Winter Sports Clinic was as a Team Leader in 1998. Parks later began working for the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic full-time in 1999 as a special events coordinator.
