The National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic is a life-changing experience for Veterans with disabilities, and the registration deadline for the 2012 clinic is fast approaching!

Applications are due November 30th, 2011, with a late application Deadline of December 15th 2011. If you have any questions or concerns about the deadline please contact Teresa Parks @ 970-263-5040 or by email at Teresa.Parks@va.gov

This year, in addition to the stellar Downhill and Cross Country skiing instruction that’s offered, the clinic will be offering an introduction to adaptive kayaking. In addition to kayaking, the Winter Sports Clinic (WSC) offers a wide range of adaptive alternate activities to do throughout the week when you are not speeding down the slopes. We will also be offering a variety of new educational sessions this year, those of you who need Continuing Education Credits can obtain those for these classes. Also, the United States Secret Service will be offering “Introduction to Self Defense” classes during the week, geared toward individuals with disabilities but open for anyone to attend.

We hope you are all as excited for this year’s clinic as we are. See you on the slopes!

Three years after our son, CPL Alan Babin, was severely wounded in Iraq – and not expected to survive, this clinic changed his, and our, lives. For the first time, we were able to focus on Alan’s abilities, not his disabilities, and to focus on the possibilities in our lives vs. all the new medical challenges on our lives. The staff, volunteers and community are The Best! It is a privilege to witness miracles on the mountainside each and every year. Life after a traumatic event may not be the same again – but it can still be a good life, with great friends and amazing support. Come join a great team ready to be a part of YOUR new normal!
