A Veteran walks by the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, D.C. on Vietnam War Veterans Day. This is the second anniversary of this special day when we honor and thank Vietnam Veterans and their families for their service and sacrifices.

The DOD, along with more than 11,000 organizations across the country, is joined by the Department of Veterans Affairs, one of its key Commemorative Partners, to help Americans honor our Vietnam Veterans.

A VA employee helps Veterans with food at a Mobile Food Pantry

The Kansas City VA Medical Center recently hosted a Mobile Food Pantry event in which all of the collected produce was distributed to local Veterans in need. Thank you to all who were involved and donated their time and food and a massive thank you to our Veterans who took part!

Honor Guard gun salute

Honor Guard members pay tribute to Vietnam Veterans during a 50th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony at the Houston National Cemetery.

On March 29, 2019, National Vietnam War Veterans Day, various VA medical centers and national cemeteries are marking this day with community events and ceremonies. We honor the nine million American men and women who served on active duty from Nov. 1, 1955, to May 7, 1975.

A veteran thanks a musician with Texas Winds for playing

 

U.S. Army Veteran Herman Samples thanks musicians from Texas Winds after they performed for Veterans at Dallas VA Medical Center. Herman was drafted in 1971 and served as an MP from 1971-1973. We thank Texas Winds for their support to our Veterans and thank Herman for his service!

Tuskegee Airman

Tuskegee Airman Robert T. McDaniel received full Air Force honors during his committal service held on March 28, 2019, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. After the service, Mr. McDaniel’s son, Robert, greeted his father’s fellow Dallas area Tuskegee Airmen Homer Hogues.
