Veterans Benefits Administration’s (VBA) Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) Service held a Facebook Town Hall in honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) on October 17. The event highlighted the many ways VR&E assists Veterans with service-connected disabilities and employment barriers with their careers – including preparation, job searching, and career maintenance.
Held annually, NDEAM is led by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy. This year’s theme is “The Right Talent, Right Now.”
VR&E is proud to support this national observance throughout the month of October! The purpose of NDEAM is to educate about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities.
VR&E encourages individuals and employers of all sizes and in all industries to participate in NDEAM. At VR&E, we will hold disability employment related training events for employees during this month’s important observance. By all of us participating, we work towards fostering a more inclusive workforce, one where every person is recognized for his or her abilities every day of every month.
The right talent, right now
VR&E delivers life-changing services through five tracks: re-employment, rapid access to employment, self-employment, employment through long-term services, and independent living.
VR&E is embracing technology to serve program participants even better. The Service is modernizing by leveraging Dragon Naturally speaking speech-to-text technology, an electronic virtual assistant (e-VA), and e-Invoicing to efficiently process participant payments to service providers. These solutions enhance the overall speed and quality of service delivery.
