#VeteranOfTheDay Army Veteran Clena Abuan

Army Veteran Clena Abuan is today's Veteran of the Day.

Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Clena Abuan, who served in the signal corps and served during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Born in New Jersey, Clena Abuan became interested in the Army in high school and had her heart set on West Point for college.

Abuan graduated after four years and commissioned as a second lieutenant. She went into the signal corps, which deals with networks, radios, satellites and computer networks. Abuan trained to prepare for a wide array of situations. She went to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, for basic training and then specialty training in Fort Gordon, Georgia, before finally making it to Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Shortly after, she deployed to Iraq. On the way there, her unit went to Kuwait for a couple of weeks for staging. In Iraq, Abuan and her unit worked to provide communications for three distant areas so that they would be able to communicate with each other and the U.S. While there, Abuan and her unit had no large problems.

Her unit returned to Fort Stewart unscathed. There, Abuan continued to train and promoted to first lieutenant.

Abuan later promoted to captain and went to Fort Lewis, Washington. She finished out her five years of service there.

After her service, Abuan went to University of North Carolina to get her Master’s in Business Administration.

Thank you for your service!
