Are you a community provider serving Veterans? Do you have questions about prescribing medication to Veterans? We have answers!
In my role as outpatient pharmacy program manager at the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System, I answer many questions from community providers about the process of prescribing medication to Veterans.
On Sept. 24 at 1 p.m. ET, I’ll be hosting a one-hour webinar with VA pharmacoeconomist/clinical pharmacist Sherri Hawk to discuss the process of prescribing medication to Veterans. We’ll talk about:
VA’s formulary, non-formulary or preferred (prior authorization) medications for Veterans.
The process of and eligibility for prescribing Veteran medications from community care referrals.
How to avoid potential obstacles and reduce administrative burdens.
VA’s efforts to streamline communications between community providers and VA pharmacies.
VA maintains the VA national formulary, which indicates if a drug has criteria for use, restrictions, or is listed on the Urgent/Emergent Formulary. From this web page, you can download files for both the VA National Formulary and the VA Urgent/Emergent Formulary.
