Women who are preparing to transition from the military are invited to participate in the event.
The Women’s Health Transition Training program and Military OneSource will host its first Facebook Live series event Sept. 25 at noon ET. Our special guests are Maj. Alea Nadeem and Col. Robin Neumeier. Be sure to watch at https://www.facebook.com/military.1source for our Q &A session.
Nadeem initiated the Women’s Health Transition Training program pilot in 2018. She says, “Many women do not self-identify as a Veteran and don’t seek services from VA. It was difficult transitioning from active duty. I struggled because everything I had identified with was in the military.”
With more than 197 trainings and 640+ participants since January 2020, the Women’s Health Transition Training is increasingly reaching service women and helping them improve this narrative. The overall goal of the Women’s Health Transition Training is to increase women Veterans’ enrollment into women’s health care services available from VA after separation from the military.
Special Guests – Women Veteran Program Managers
Most Women’s Health Transition Trainings include a special guest Women Veteran Program Manager (WVPM).
We had over 40 WVPMs from across the country participate in at least one of our Women’s Health Transition Training sessions every week.
WVPMs are VA employees that manage the women’s health program at each of the VA medical centers. They participate in the Women’s Health Transition Training session, answering specific participant questions and speak with more depth about the services offered by VA. They support the training team to create an open, inclusive, and woman-only environment during the training.
The WVPMs can also connect participants with the WVPM in their locality to create initial connections prior to the participant’s military separation.
