I highly agree with Ove J Striegler. I live in Fresno, California and the V.A. Commissary is super expensive and the civilian employees there are rude and cocky. I won’t go there ever again! Before I head out to V.A. the entire day there for appointments I always make sure I have cokes/water and pre-made lunches I packed from home. And I used to buy the coffee mugs with the Army logo and t-shirts, etc. there when I had the extra money, but now I buy online for WAAAAAAAAY cheaper!

The exchanges and commissaries are staffed by civilians. The further up the food chain the bigger their salaries. CEO’s of big places draw CEO salaries. The days of being run by Commissary-men & the like are LONG GONE> Sadly, most big box stores do make the BX’s (whatever service – although the CG EX’s have some good prices Here in MI FOOD is not taxed so I can go to Kroger, Wal Mart or another big box store & beat the commissary because the MWR surcharge is like tax. As a retiree whose income is far less than when I was on active duty, I no longer shop at bases because to do so means a 200 ++ trip one way. The savings just are not there. Perhaps the exchanges & commissaries are useful outconus, but here inconus, I think not.

Sorry to hear that. But glad to hear the truth, no matter how difficult it is. Thank you for your honesty.

Your shop is a disgrace! Your Veterans Shop, located in the VA Hospital Annex, Houston, TX chargers more than shops available commercially. Walmart , Target, etc. What happened to the PX? What happened to the Cafeteria? VA shops should be for Veterans. Sadly, they are just commercial ventures. Have any of you (Shop VCS) looked at your prices and the quality of your products? If you have the result is difficult to comprehend. VA Shops and Cafeterias were great for Veterans in the past. Now, it is the same as going to Walgreens, CVS, etc. HOW ARE YOU ABLE TO SLEEP WHEN YOU KNOW YOU ARE DUPING VEGERANS?

I agree with you 100% I only go in there for convenience. When I have a appointment there at Debakey VA Houston. They used to carry a lot more stuff before Covid than they do now. Maybe they had to make more room for people to distance themselves in the store.
