Trust, self-motivation, confidence, mission-driven, gold-standard work ethic, loyalty, respect, ability to improvise, discipline, teamwork, leadership. These are just some of the qualifications that you – our Veterans – bring to the table. These are qualities and traits that every employer wants – and needs – in its workforce.

Bridge My Return helps Veterans

At Bridge My Return (BMR), we translate all of your core military skills and training. We don’t pigeonhole you into the job you did when active. Driving a truck in the military doesn’t mean you only qualify to drive a truck for a civilian company. The additional skills we’d map to that truck driver MOS would include operation, control, coordination, communication, time management and problem solving. These are skills employers seek in a host of jobs – operations, logistics, project management, sales, etc. We believe that this unleashes broader, better opportunities!

It takes about 20-30 minutes to complete a BMR profile, about the same amount of time to watch a streaming program. After that, our software works for you 24/7. As new jobs are added, you’re matched to new opportunities. Plus, the BMR application automatically creates a personalized resume for you – a resume you can immediately share with BMR employer partners or other employers you approach separately.

At Bridge My Return, we work with all stakeholders to tackle Veteran unemployment and underemployment while constantly listening and building the funnel of opportunities for both our Veterans and our employers.

Building a Veteran community and pool of job opportunities

To build our Veteran community, we partner with diverse organizations, such as VA, Semper Fi, America’s Fund and Western Governors University.

To build our pool of meaningful job and career opportunities, we partner with military-ready employers across a range of industries – leading companies like Northrop Grumman, Northwestern Mutual Life, CME Group, American Residential Services and Molson Coors.

The best part is that we make it free for Veterans and offer on-going resource support. It all works because the BMR technology is “bet the ranch,” bar none cutting-edge.

Our team of coders and designers are relentless, challenging themselves to drive efficiency and effectiveness in order to reach the higher standard you deserve. It’s pretty simple, actually. You register and cruise through our profile-building process, and you leave with a solid resume and an open door to job opportunities across the country.

Who are we?

We are led by three entrepreneurs with business, technology and military experience. I’m the connector who opens doors to opportunity with decades of experience (the old guy); Dan is our technology guru who lives for this stuff; and Branden is a Navy Veteran and a strong and steady voice for Veteran support and advocacy.

We are passionate about our mission and good at what we do. This Video (“The Mission”) captures the situation. It may capture your attention.

I yet to give up hope. I’m totally lost for the last 2 years trying to attend vocational rehab. I was told trade schools were not acceptable. I tried local community college? The college is requesting transcripts from my High School; unfortunately I graduated in 1988? My High School verified I did graduate and was located in the database, but my school records/transcripts are nowhere to be found? I notified NYC board of Education for archived transcripts and was given a excuse that they are only kept for 20 years? I’m presently attempting to contact the local community college to see if I could take a entrance exam to attend college? Vocational Rehab mention CareerSource which gave me a list of apprenticeships to earn as you learn. I contacted all the people listed and maybe due to covid-19 I haven’t got a response? I’m only 51 years old I cannot receive social security till 67 ? I feel like such a loser, my kids are supporting me? I would like to do carpentry of home repair and get certified in build repair or construction. I wanna have a purpose to live for, help others if possible? I refuse to call the veterans crisis line for ptsd. I been applying for jobs, going to interviews feeling great thinking the interview went so well. Thinking I am over qualified for the job and humbled enough to receive a low wage, even a job knowing it is temporary? No employer ever calls back nor contact me to inform me they hired someone else? Nobody will read this but I’m glad I let it out, I still have too much pride to tell my wife and kids. I feel so lost going through life faking it like everything is ok?

Richard I have read this!! I am YOU!! I am also 51 and have not worked since 2019. I am currently going through the VRE program as I still do not understand how they “assist” me in finding a job as I have applied for 169 jobs currently and like you have had really GREAT interviews but absolutely no call backs. I think in May is when the VRE will start assisting me with school but currently I have no idea what their job is but to simply saying “keep applying”. I also have a family and like you it hurts me to look in their eyes and can’t provide but the minimum for them. However, it may be minimum but they are provided for. I wrote this just to let you know as a former military, police and security manager, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Please know as long as the family supports you as you wrote they do, it’s like a tour of duty. Your family may not be on tour but knowing that they are there makes the tour less arduous.

My plan is to start taking some of the courses on Linkedin to make myself stand out a little more as experience without a degree or certifications is useless. Just know I will continue to apply as I can’t wait for BOTH OF US to have the story we are reaching for come full circle and be able to look back on this and share with sooo many others that WE did it!! Don’t quit, and continue to reach out to others just to “let it out”. We are here and we are listening. Ok, time to fill out application 236 Hooyah! GO NAVY!

I virtually have no confidence in any VA employment assistance programs whatsoever. I applied for self-employment under M28R, PartVI, Section A, Chapter 9, through the VA program V&RE, which should have provided financial aid in purchasing the equipment to help start my laboratory.
I provided over 100 pages of educational documents and hundreds upon hundreds of pages of documentation that I generated to lay-out a business model, a business plan, and a financial path to employ thousands of disabled Veterans over ten years.
I have successfully done this for many, many fortune 100 companies and developed new products that Americans are purchasing every day.
I believe because of my background being in DoD nuclear industry with a heavy overtone in weapons; I was “CANCELLED.” A so-called VA representative disagreed with the technology I developed for our Nation. I will forever remember the face and name of Bobby S. from the V&RE Detroit office for the rest of my life. One unscrupulous individual took away the advancement in technology and security of every American by derailing and lying to his supervisors about my application and technology. Bobby S. to you, I present my social finger. I have no words that describe your inhumanity to humankind.
People are eager to say, “Thanks for your service,” but when it comes down to brass tacks, there are only a few that are sincere. Not everyone is deceitful, and there are some good people. However, it has been my experience people have agendas and those with self centered goals that are in a position authority can change the course of many or even humankind.
I hope some of you find employment with a sincere employer. I pray that every veteran and especially every severely disabled veteran like myself finds happiness contentment, instead of the bitter taste of an individual’s self empowerment.

Sounds like you need a lawyer to talk to instead of airing dirty laundry here.

      • Disabled Vet April 2, 2021 at 17:55

It’s the VA dirty laundry so let them wear it. From your tone of speech, I suppose you will be happy to donate the financial aid to pay for your suggesting legal assistance. Walk in the shoes of a Vietnam Vet before you offer advice. Advice is cheap.
I am an old man now. In my spare time, I tutor physics and quantum mechanics via Skype. The little money I make tutoring will hardly pay for attorneys.
I have done absolutely everything possible that I can do to obtain my codified benefits to advance disabled veterans. The legal fees would far exceed any financial help that the VA offered. Every attorney I spoke with agreed with that conclusion. Thanks for your FREE ADVISE. You’re just the Einstien I needed. Thank you.

Sometimes you can’t afford a lawyer, those blood suckers tell you you have a case, then eat through $5,000.00 retainer like a good hammer when your hungry, afterwards, asking that another $5,000 is needed in order to get your day in court. Look, idiots are employed at the veterans administration for sure as not all see the grass on the over side as you may. Let him air his laundry.

We Veterans have a Voice, but it falls on deaf ears. Nice speech, like a veteran job fair or advocates…show of force of nice things to say, but again just being nice, I’ve been to many veteran and civilian job fairs, VA and veteran resources, to tweak resumes and present myself…and in the end as perfect it stood, it all meant nothing after the first 10 visits, because it was the same rigmarole. I still wasn’t getting a job = just a cliché. My experience is reality is Difficult times if you are Veteran.

I Got my Bachelor’s and Masters degree whilst serving in the USAF. Since being out of the military, Desert Storm to Honorably discharged in 2007. Constantly applying to over a thousand applications/ Resumes with Cover letters for a permanent job. All I get are Recruiters/ Staffing agencies (hounding me to sign up them with job offers to lure me in to fill only their database with no Company Hiring managers with job start dates= then to find out the job postings are False Flags, just fluff for their stats to prove show a good face with a smile and as they lie between their teeth. Now, when they do not, that one needle in haystack to get me only one job with short-term (1 or 3 month) – DoD contracts with no benefits…ie no paid time off for holidays, vacations or offers of a 401k or a chance for permanency. With that I’m Bouncing from one job to the next with 1-2 years unemployed between them. Havin only 6 jobs making avg $70k divide that by half via unemployed and I’ve been living/ surviving on 35k or less per year. How does this/ you differ from Veteran and Civilian Staffing Agencies who just say thanks for your service cliché when I really need is job/ career with when can I start and be part of team.

Btw, I’ve worked around Corporate employees from VP’s , to the manufacturing floor personnel with less education/ experience and less leadership and never served, having 1 to 3 jobs keeping their careers with the same company to retirement. I feel like Buzz Alderman – Astronaut to Car Salesman (without the divorce of 2 women and frustrated to the point of becoming a drunk b/c he couldn’t get a job). No wonder suicides amongst Veterans is soo high. Did we fail America by not dying while serving. Thanks for the plaque, monument and the whatever one minute blurb on the news to be instantly forgotten or be remembered for fraction of a moment with the loss of meaning. What we Veterans really need are real careers from our civilian American counterparts not another fluffy speech without commitment = Fake Commanders and their Human Resource personnel whom have the lack of courage to stand up to hire Veterans.

Anyone else concerned about a non Veteran running the VA? Or am I just crazy? Not to mention the dumb Slogan! reminds of Build Back Better. Trash!

  6. Bob Hogan March 30, 2021 at 09:20

Thanks for your note. On the other side of the BMR platform, military-ready employers will add jobs and set candidate criteria. Our technology connects Veterans to those jobs based on skills-to-skills matching. Hope this helps.

  7. David March 30, 2021 at 09:18

This should be a great tool going forward. Always great to have more access to veteran-friendly businesses

  8. Harvey Rountree March 29, 2021 at 17:05

This told a veteran nothing about obtaining a job. It only indicated that they can do a job. We need jobs is the bottom line.
