Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Navy Veteran Sanjeeta Reddy, who served for nine years in the Navy as an operation specialist.
In September 1990, Sanjeeta Reddy was born in San Francisco. She enlisted in the Navy in 2011. Reddy did not know which branch of the military she wanted to join, so she simply talked with the recruiter office that was open at the time: the Navy. The rest was history.
Reddy considered her bootcamp experience at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois, to be amazing. Although she initially believed that she would not be strong enough to complete it, she proved herself wrong and finished bootcamp. Basic training proved to be easier than she had expected. However, Reddy said she wondered why the instructors would yell in her face. One of the lessons she learned during basic training was that many of the younger recruits had little respect, and they were the ones who struggled the most. She took that lesson to heart.
After completing bootcamp, Reddy served aboard USS Green Bay at Naval Base Coronado in San Diego in 2011. She remained on USS Green Bay until 2012, going over to the Naval Medical Center in San Diego for shore duty as she was pregnant at the time. She remained at the medical center until 2015 when she transferred to Carrier Strike Group One.
In 2013, she served as an operations specialist. Maintaining a complex and evolving multi-national datalink structure, she ensured a steady system operation and connectivity. This coordination conducted ship to shore movement via secure and unsecure radio frequencies of assault and logistic crafts. Furthermore, it developed daily intelligence reports, and Reddy briefed senior leadership on report findings via in-person presentations. Reddy also planned and briefed senior personnel on ships movements and navigation detail.
After serving in Carrier Strike Group One, she returned shore duty once again in 2017 for limited duty orders because of medical issues. She would remain at Naval Base Coronado until April 2020, when she finally left the Navy. Reddy served for a total of nine years. Reddy earned a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement during her service.
She currently works for the US4Warriors Foundation in Chula Vista, California.
Reddy recently completed her dental assistant program and graduated in July 2021. She is looking forward to transitioning from her nursing studies to her new career, caring for fellow service members in a military medical facility.
Thank you for your service!
