VHA Innovation Ecosystem Breaking Boundaries

The ground-breaking work happening within the Veterans Health Administration Innovation Ecosystem (VHA IE) is part of the VHA healthcare mission to ensure equitable access to high-quality care for all Veterans. Get ready for a deep dive into these efforts to address health disparities at the next VHA Innovation Experience (iEX) Virtual Series event, Breaking Boundaries: Using Innovation to Advance Health Equity, taking place October 13, at 2 p.m. EST.

Moderated by Ernest Moy, MD, executive director of the Office of Health Equity of VHA, this dynamic and insightful panel will bring innovators together to discuss inequalities within their community and across Veteran health care. Tune in for an in-depth conversation on how innovation can advance health equity and create conditions for equal opportunities to live longer, healthier lives. Panelists include leaders from across the health industry and academia:

  • Jay D. Bhatt, DO, MPH, MPA, chief clinical product officer and medical director of Medical Home Network/MoreCare
  • Freddy T. Nguyen, MD, Ph.D., research fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and resident physician at Mount Sinai Hospital
  • Steven Schwab, CEO of Elizabeth Dole Foundation
  • Lisa Simpson, BcH, MB, MPH, FAAP, president and chief executive office of AcademyHealth

Health equity is critical to providing the best care possible to all Veterans. Often minority populations face barriers, such as food insecurity, housing instability and mental health challenges. VHA’s efforts to address health-related social needs have made program in helping reduce health disparities when comparing mortality rates of Veterans to non-Veterans. While there are still racial and ethnic disparities amongst VHA-users, many gaps are smaller than those in the U.S. general populations. Within VA, for example, there is little variation in vaccination rates across racial and ethnic groups. Join us to hear Dr. Moy and the panelists talk about this and other progress, the challenges, and the road ahead.

The iEX Virtual Series provides Veterans and the public a unique experience to celebrate VA’s boundary breaking innovations, collaborations and technologies that are forging the future of Veteran health care. Register now for instant access to all iEX events, including recordings of the first two events – the Breaking Boundaries Collaboration Challenge and the Forging a Healthier Future: Post-Pandemic Care panel. Don’t miss another moment of exciting debate on critical, timely topics at the VHA Innovation Experience.

I can’t believe that the Veterans Administration is falling for this Bullsht Narrative about inequality and equity, and actually have Seminars or Workgroups on these subjects.
You talk about a step backwards to a New Low…. I don’t ever remember any of this Bullsht being an issue when I was serving…. You guys are just following likveryone else, this Bullsht Lie Narrative, that someone is being left out or mistreated…. Bunch of Pansy sses!

Just one more way for the VHA to use Veterans as ginnypigs, so please be careful, as the VA can not be trusted to tell the truth!!!!
